Titles

Here are some titles I have added to the end of our music video. I have chosen the colours orange and grey for the end titles because of the song is roar and the lyrics in the song mentions about a tiger. I have chosen to use grey because the white didn't look as good.I have looked at different fonts on the endings on these videos I have created this using i movie and creating the gifs using gifmaker.com

Above is a screen shot of ideas of titles in our music video. I look at putting titles at the beginning on the video first of all but it didn't look right so I scrapped the idea of putting it in.


I have looked at different types of fonts using

spacefont.com I changed the colour to orange because thats, in the song it mentions a tiger so I based decision around that.

We stayed behind school to start our film the school was empty so we had to find people who were willing to give up their spare time to help us with our film. During the filming I took photos of behind the scenes of us filming in the action.Below are the photos I have taken of the behind action of our film. I decided take the photos in black and white as I thought this will bring out the bullying aspects to our film.

Here is Jodie telling her brother where stand and what to do with our film she is showing her brother what he has to do and the way he has to react when her bully goes past. 




This is a high angle shot of where the bully and his friend starts smacking the door in the video. In the reflection of the mirror you can see Jodie with story boards and Luke facing towards her as she is telling him what to do for this scene.

Another high angle of the toilet scene where Jodie is telling the boys what to do in this scene. Jodie is telling the boys what to act like for this scene using the story board to plan the scene out.  












This scene is showing how we got our high angled shots. We went through great difficulty climbing and position the camera and making sure we didn't have camera shake. Jodie is positioning the camera over the top of the toilet cubicle  filming the scene where the bully is in the toilet. This photo is of the bully skating through the corridor in action. Dan the bully had to practice skating up and down the corridor till he got it right before we could start the filming.



This photo is of Jess setting up the camera on a tripod position it for our filming to start. We decided to film this scene first because we originally planned to film the toilet scene first but the cleaners were cleaning it so that is  why we filmed this part first.

Planning the video

Mind map of our ideas for our film I have created on the bubbl. I have made a mind map to help me with planning for our video,I have put our ideas into a mind map to show our initial ideas for the making of our video. I have looked at props we are going to use, locations we are planning on using, characters, costume,sound, editing and the plot.

Orginal Ideas for Music Video

Our plans for the making process for our music video will be based on the theme of isolation and the realism of bullying which happens on a daily basis in schools and that is why we are planning on shooting our music video in a school. We are planning on making a music video on a narrative about bullying. In our group we have decided to create a music video on bullying because we have looked at existing videos which have influenced us to make a video on bullying because bullying has had an impact on many peoples life. We are planning on making a video on bullying to show the effects it can have on peoples lives due to bullying and I feel as we can make our video showing a message to people who have suffered from bullying or that has been a bully that they can get help or stop the bullying. 

As we are planning on using a school as the main location for our music video we will have to ask permission to film at our school. 
Our main ideas for our film are that there is going to be a boy who is sitting in a toilet cubicle eating his dinner because he is being bullying this scene we are planning on creating will show isolation.
Secondly we are planing on shooting a football scene where the victim gets pushed to the floor by the bully during the football game and gets laughed at by the fellow football players on the field.
We are planning on shooting a classroom scene where the bully and his friends through balls of paper at the victim and we will show the teacher choosing to ignore what is going on even though they saw what is happening.We will use over the shoulder shots in this scene because it is will show the emotion of the victim looking over his shoulder whilst we will see the paper flying at him.
We have also decided to shoot a corridor where the victim is walking past a bully and his friends and the bully pushes the victim over and all his books fall over the floor.
Last scene of the bullying we are planning on creating is where the bully chases the victim outside the school by doing this we are showing that bullying also happens outside of school.
After the build up of the bullying we are planning on shooting in our music video the victim in going to explode and fight back because he can't take the bullying anymore we are going to use fast cut to thew build up to it where the victim fights back at the bully and pushes him over, pushes him out of the way of the toilet cubicle and pushes things over in a class room.

Anti-Bullying Campaign (KP)

After deciding our music video was going to be about bulling I decided to do a little research into anti bullying campaigns. 

Where I live in my area there is a anti bullying campaign called 'Bwsted' a welsh bullying campaign in Bridgend county trying to prevent bullying and helping people who are being bullied.

I have also researched existing videos for anti bullying campaigns.Whilst doing this I have come across anti bullying music videos which will benefit me and group when we make our music video based around bullying.

First music video for anti-bullying i have looked at is by Unkle Adams - I am stronger,which is a music video representing the anti bullying camping called 'I am Stronger'.The clenching fist in the logo for the anti-bullying campaign is also shown in the video showing the representation of the scheme in the video. This music video is a lip syncing music, but for our music video we are planning on doing a narrative music video and this is why I have also looked at another anti bullying campaign below which is a narrative.

This anti-bullying music video I have found using YouTube this music video shows the representation of anti-bullying through a narrative.I feel this video is something is what we are aiming to make something like this.

Narrative

This is the Narrtive for our music video, for the music video my group and I have decided to make a music video to a very popular song by Katy Perry and the song is 'Roar' our video will consit of a young boy being bullied in school. We have decided to go along with this type of narrative as it goes well with the lyrics and the meaning will fit well with the song. 

'I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath'

Lyrics such as this shows how the young vulnerable boy isn't telling anyone about what he is going through and that he is keeping it all locked up inside.

'I am the champion and you're going to hear me roar'

These lyrics then represent how the young boy has taken too much, all of the anger that he has kept inside is going to explode. 

We have planned that the music video will start with a shot of the young boy in a toilet cubicle, eating his lunch all on his own, the cubicle represents the isolation that the boy is experiencing as he is being bullied. The bully's will then find out that the boy is in the cubicle and they will harass him by kicking on the door and shouting at him. The young boy will then have numerous flashbacks of times where he has been bullied. The flash backs will be represented by fading into shots of a different colour. After the boy comes back to reality he then decides that he cant take any more, he gets extremely angry in the toilets and then barges out to face everyone. After overcoming his fear, the music video comes back in a full circle so that the ending shot is back in the toilet cubicle, except this time, its the former bully who is eating his lunch all alone. 

Research On Artist

The artist I am looking at is Katy Perry I have chosen to look at some background information at Katy Perry because of the chosen we are using is sung by her. Her real name is Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson she is 29 and she was born on 25th October in 1984. Katy Perry is an American pop singer.
Katy Perry has released 5 albums her album being called Katie Hudson which is her first ever album she released in 2001, Her second album one of the boys which was released in 2005, her next album called MTV unplugged by Katy Perry was released in 2009 and then

Katy Hudson known as Katy Perry was originally a gospel choir girl at the age of 15, she was reserved to listening to any other music than gospel singing because her parents didn't allow her to listen to any other of genre music. Not till she was much older she found her love for pop music when she asked her friends to lend her CD's of the pop genre.

In 2007 Katy Perry was signed up to recording contract with capitol records where she released her first song under the label called 'I kissed a girl' this song became very popular and her pop star career rocketed due to the release of this song.

Katy Perry hasn't only been in the music industry but also the film industry featuring in the films The Smurfs and The Smurfs 2 by acting as Smurfette but she has also starred in her very own film called Katy Perry: Part of Me.

The influential lyrics in the song roar was down the split of her ex Husband Russell Brand. After the divorce of Russell Brand Katy Perry concentrated on her music it is believed that the lyrics behind all the songs on her prism had effected her from her divorce from her ex husband. The album is believed to be a new beginning of Katy Perry a new page is turning with the release of her album later this year.

The main reason I have done some research for Katy Perry is because when she was younger she also go bullied herself. When she was younger she used to be bullied and made fun of her figure. 

Katy Perry is also for the anti bullying campaign as she put a letter up on instagram on bullying for her fans who were going through a hard time.

 she posted the message below on her instagram 

"That's right folks. Be proud of who you are. Recently, I've been getting a lot of comments and tweets from fans who are struggling with self harm or being a victim of bullying. Which brings tears to my eyes. I want you to be strong. There's only one you in this world, embrace it. And trust me, when you grow up and become successful those bullies will WISH they were friends with you and were nice to you. Karma will do payback to them, just watch. When they bully again, just laugh at their faces or simply say I don't care. If they see it bothers you, they'll continue. If they see that you don't care and that it doesn't bother you, they'll stop! Simple! Stand up for yourself. Make those bullies look stupid. If it gets bad, you can simply tell the authority at school. Another problem is a lot of kids these days who do self harm. It's horrible to me. Don't ruin your skin, I think your skin is beautiful. Putting scars on your wrists or anywhere else is just heartbreaking for me. Cutting yourself doesn't fix anything. Please, just stop. For me, for your family, for your friends, for you. I understand its hard, I've never been through it but I have talked to fans like you. Just be clean for today, and see if you can go up to a week maybe? You can slowly progress to stop. She also put on her instagram after posting this a picture for the anti bullying campaign for Trevor campaign and this is why I think Katy Perry is a good person to base our music video around.

The Decided Song

At the start of the year I was in Group with other people than the people I am in now, I decided to use the song 'Roar' by Katy Perry for our music video so I decided to use my original ideas from my original group and use it in my new group. The song I chose to make the music video around was 'Roar' by Katy Perry, I chose this song because I think that the lyrics to the song will fit around our music video very well. We came to the conclusion after the results came back from my questionnaire that the ages between 16-24 are popular for pop music videos and this is also why we have decided to stay with original idea of Katy Perry 'Roar' as it will be better for our target audience.


The song 'Roar' is taken from Katy Perrys latest ablum 'Prism'. Prism is Katy Perry is 3rd album, the album was released in 2013. 

Katy Perry released the lyric video for Roar on 12th August 2013 the lyric video consist of a group chat between friends using the lyrics through emojis on an Iphone. The video starts with Katy Perry in bed then her phone goes off then she picks her iphone up then it zooms into her onto a whatapps group message.The technology in the lyric video is an I phone most teenagers own an I phone these days so that will grab the target audience for the teenage generation and will give the video more view on youtube.

I find that the lyrics from the song Roar will fit well in with our film we are going to make the lyrics 'You held me down but I got back up' will be shown by bullying these lyrics will represented in our video by the victim fighting back at the bully and and this why I think our music video will be sucessful because the lyrics will be relevant to the video.

Katy Perry Roar video was released on 5th September 2013 is has now has 311,020,878 million views on YouTube. The single roar is the 3rd fastest and best selling single of 2013.

I found this video on YouTube of the making of the video and was difficulties they went through and how it was planned I found this very useful to see the final video and this video and the outcome of it. This has given me an idea for my own music video to film behind the scenes and making an out cut video after we have made our final piece.

Whilst researching about the song I came across a new report on a 8 year old who  has autism and can barely speak, but sang to the song Roar. Jack Robbins age 8 from Texas  mother Carla Robbins posted a video of her son singing to the song on the internet on YouTube and had over 300,000, likes. I find it amazing how someone who can speak was able to sing to this song.

 Recently Katy Perry has beaten Justin Bieber on twitter with the most followers this due to her successful hit of roar it rocketed over twitter when it was released. Katy Perry quoted a tweet one of her fans had sent to her just after getting of a plane.  

On the day of release Katy Perrys album and song roar went straight up the chart. Her album appearing at number 2 in the UK official album chart and her song climbing high at number 7 in the UK official singles chart.This is also why we have decided to pick this song to base our music video around due to it being a very popular and successful song which will benefit us to use for our music video.

Requesting permission (JP) (KP)

To be able to create our music video around the song roar by Katy Perry we had to request permission from the artist by asking if we could use her song for our music video. In our group we decided to chose Katy Perry and our way of requesting permission to use the song by using twitter. By doing this as a group (Jodie Phillips) tweeted Katy Perry requesting permission to be able to use her song. Below is a screen shot of proof asking permission due to the legal rights for using her song. Even though we weren't expecting a reply from Katy Perry we asked her in advance before we will start to film our video using her song.

 I  have also requested permission to use this song by emailing Katy Perry's record company called Capitol Records due to the fact that they own the song aswell as Katy Perry because they produced it with her. I have mailed the production asking for permission as well as Jodie doing it but to the artist. 

                            

Neither of the record company or Katy Perry had replied to us asking for permission but we have the proof from screen shotting before starting the making process of our music video
